What I want for each of you is to have The Success Edge. By that I simply mean
live the life you really want. There are many strategies, keys, principles to
get there; yet, it all starts with your willingness to go after it. People are so used to
talking about goals and visions that they often overlook one very subtle strategy that is
behind so many successes.
To really understand, grasp and own this strategy may take on your part a willingness to
shift your belief system-what I call the B.S. You know, you learned many
things about life as a child, and they were good when you were five. Now it is time to
reorient yourself for what works today. It takes new habits, new visions and new thinking
abilities for openness.
The key to having the success edge personally and professionally is Taking the
Intuitive Leap. That is listening to your inner voice and acting on it as soon as
you hear it. Not eventually, but now--In the Moment. Taking the intuitive leap is a
learned ability that takes patience and practice. It means developing your inner awareness
and trusting it, not second guessing yourself. Dont worry about it. Dont judge
it. Act on your inner voice as soon as you become aware of it. It becomes easier when you
come to learn and believe in your heart that the present is perfect, even when it
doesnt seem to be.
The inner voice goes by many names. Many great poets have written about it. You may call
it a gut feeling or an inkling. Some speak of it as their heart, their soul, their
intuition, their God-voice, as the Universe. It doesnt matter what you call it, the
point is that it is real. It is up to you to listen and act and act now.
I want you to remember the last time you had that little inkling. You know, that time you
had that light-bulb go off, that instant flash of an idea or a feeling. Remember how it
came as a bright light and seemed to quickly fade or spoke to you in an almost small and
ever so soft voice. It is subtle. It becomes bigger as your life becomes more complete and
as you become more in tune with it. When you had that flash of an idea, what did you do?
Did you act on it or did you say something like Thats not possible,
They wont go for that, or Thats a good idea, but its
for someone else. We often sabotage ourselves by telling ourself (and others)
Its not possible. That is a limiting thought. Its time to shift
your belief system from Thats not possible. to Everything is possible! There are no limits except the ones
we put on ourselves. Its not enough that somewhere we get this feeling, this gift if
you will; you have to act on it. It wont become reality unless you take the action.
R. Buckminister Fuller, developer of the geodesic dome, put it this way: I call
intuition cosmic fishing. You feel a nibble, then youve got to hook the fish.
Youve heard the saying Success is 10 percent inspiration (translate that as
intuition, the idea, that inkling) and 90 percent perspiration (or what you do with
it). And, each time you get this gift it is really your choice what you do with it.
Its a funny phenomenon. Have you noticed that the more you act on this gift the more
gifts seem to come your way, almost magically. The reverse also holds true. The Universe
seems to stop providing gifts when you arent able to notice them, acknowledge them
and act on them.
Let me share just one example of the power of taking the intuitive leap. You may have
heard of Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonalds. Back in 1960, he was impressed with how many
burgers and milkshakes were sold at a barbecue parlor in San Bernardino, California owned
by brothers Mac and Dick McDonald. Kroc had ideas for expansion. He checked with his
experts. His attorneys said it was a bad deal; the brothers were asking too much, $2.7
million.
Kroc said, I closed my office door, cussed up and down, threw things out of the
window, called my lawyer back, and said: Take it! I felt it in my funny bone
it was a sure thing.
Ray Krocs inner voice spoke to him and he listened and he acted on it and the rest
is history, as they say. Its important to notice the process. He had to cut out,
overcome the naysayers - what I call society - the red light. Although well intended, they
are stopping you. They are telling you what you should do, cant do, and ought to do.
He did some deep soul-searching and followed the green light, his intuition. He ultimately
made his multi-million dollar decision based on a twitch in his body. Ray Kroc took the
intuitive leap.
You too can take the intuitive leap. Be aware of your inner voice every day, every moment.
Its there speaking to you, ever so softly. Its up to you to get so complete in
your life that you not only hear this voice, but have the personal power to block the
naysayers and act on it. Its time to follow your own success. Your inner voice
knows.
